Europe Media Monitor (EMM) Alerts are based on a match of news item text against a predefined set of around 650 category definitions, described by 16.000 keyword patterns and combinations. The news items are gathered from around 1000 sources all over the world on a regular basis. The Alert System processes the information immediately when a new item has been found. The selection and placement of stories are determined automatically by a computer program. This site is a joint project of DG-JRC and DG-COMM.
